If it doesn't, try powering off the computer, powering off the scanner, powering on the scanner and then powering on the computer. If VueScan doesn't see your scanner on Mac OS X, first make sure that "About This Mac" (in the Apple menu) in the USB devices section can see the scanner.

It works fine but now whenever I need to scan my comic pages, I would have to go to the other room to do it. I had to end up hooking my scanner to a PC that my family has in another room in the house and I was able to download a driver for it since there's one for my scanner. The next comparable scanner I can find at this size is this one: The fact that it isn't supported in OS Catalina is actually a nightmare.

I work from home as a freelance artist and I use my scanner daily. I've emailed Vuescan and they replied rather quickly to tell me they have no plans to support this hardware. I recently installed a Quadro M4000 card which runs smoothly with the nVidia web drivers and with 8GB and 10-bit colour will last me a long time provided it doesn't break down, in which case I will just buy another old card.I've also just had this problem. And there are lots of not so ancient but not new cards around that are interesting to use as well. For that you can keep an old card in a a slot in the computer or lying around somewhere and install as necessary. Just on the point raised by video cards, there is no problem to run modern cards in these machines if you are ok with losing the boot screen. It is also possible to install current versions of MacOS on Mac Pros 3,1-5,1 (see this guide, which also covers anything else one may wish to know about how to keep these wonderful machines running). I have also hooked my X1 up to my 2013 Macbook Pro using two adapters which worked perfectly. I have no intention of upgrading beyond this. If you're ok with buying a computer specifically for this task and have the room I recommend an older Intel-based Mac Pro which can be had for very reasonable money these days. I run my X1 on an Early 2008 Mac Pro (3,1) with El Capitan without any problems.
